This guitar in the sample serial number was the 26th guitar built in April 2007. The Q stands for a 0 and the N is a 7, which means 07 for 2007. QN K 026 C is the 26 th guitar built in April, 20 07.

Although a serial number is helpful for roughly determining the age of a guitar, this is often not the exact date. As a result of the overlap between years, Fender serial numbers are also not by definition chronological. In the past (we are talking about before 1976) the serial numbers were often randomly assigned. Burny is a sub-brand of Fernandes Guitars.Initially used on their range of Gibson replica guitars produced by Fernandes Guitars, it was also used as a name on some of their 1970s strat copies (Burny Olds and Burny Custom) and later used as a brand line for original designs.

Fernandes (and Bury) were brand names of Saito Musical Instruments had.
The company was founded in 1969 and registered as Fernandes in 1972.
Originally selling the flamenco guitars, the company expanded productionover the years to include different acoustic models, electric guitars, bass guitars, amplifiers and accessories and is today one of the most famousJapanese guitar Manufacturers.
They didn't official announced but Mr. Saito asked both Mr. Katsumi Omote(He was a staff of Fernandes, transferring employee, conducted Kawai manufacturing,He was a guitar player but knew much knowledge of electric guitars already.)
I'm not sure but Mr. Saito also asked Mr. Hidesato Shiino to support the
Fernandes electric guitars line in the early 1970’s. Probably, both Mr.Omote and Mr. Shiino conducted early time Fernandes Guitar.
They made 2 brands such as Fernandes and Burny. Fernandes line is replica of Fender,
Burny was replica of Gibson line.
These were a very good replica. The price was 1/3-1/4 of original guitars. Also, the quality was much better than earlier GRECO, (Matsumoku era) MORRIS,Guyatone and others.
FST (Strat) and FTE (Tele) were early time line-up with Fernandes Logo on the head.
The hardware size was metric instead of fractional. So, the bridge was made slightly narrow.
The body was made by the silver heart wood which was used at many bowling alley.
After bowling booming at early 70's, many bowling alley were bankrupted.
They use the wood from those scrap. They made the body from these woods.
(Well, H.S.Anderson used it too). That's why early Fernandes body is bonded wood!
The weak point of this wood was really heavy weight. So you could feel the weight more compare
with other replica.
The early catalogs featured TV, SG and Firebird replica. Burny brand wasused for these Gibson replicas. it was unique that most Japanese manufacturerswere using bolt-on neck bodies but BURNY was very good at set-neck constructionfor upper class. (ELK did set-in neck a bit earlier). In addition, theSG copy included the vibro-tremolo unit.
As an interesting side note, the Burny name was supposed to be Bunny (asin rabbits) but was misspelled. On learning of the error and the Englishmeaning of burn, they decided to stick with the original BURNY brand name.
The actual manufacturer is Kawai Gakki. They made all Fernandes guitarsas OEM contract. Kawai has many knowledge from Teisco production. However, they didn't know well about Fender and Gibson originals.
Fernandes offered the big size Guitar Amplifiers at the same type of guitars. These Amplifiers were named 'Royal', look like Orange Amplifier.Theseare also conducted by Mr. Omote and Mr. Shiino. Well, 2 gentlemen startedESP a bit later. They were original member of ESP foundation (a bit later,2 gentlemen left ESP, they have internal argument and it became court battlewith current ESP owner).
The sale of Fernandes was increased a lot. They sent Mr. Omote for theStates to investigate more guitars. He bought back many second hand guitars(well, these are now vintage guitars). Then, they started to make moredetailed replica.
In 1975, Fernandes introduced replica of the Gibson Les Paul Standard and Custom.
They used the solid mahogany back and 2 piece spild wood top like Gibson.
Also made closely matched the set-neck construction of the Gibson originals.
Probably, in 75-76, Fernandes has started to discussion with Tokai Gakki to start
the OEM production.
In 1977-80, Fernandes started the new logo mark guitars (We called it asStone <in Japanese 'Ishi' --- The mark is very closed to JapaneseChinese character 'Stone') logo. Tokai use very good wood materialsfor this OEM contract. Tokai received many manufacturing and constructionknowledge from Mr. Omote and guitars which he brought from the States.
In 1981, under intense legal pressure from Gibson and Fender, Fernandesintroduced 'The Revival' series. Fernandes was forced to changethe design of the logo mark and inlay on the head peg board to distancethemselves from the Gibson and Fender designs. Many different logo andhead designs mark this era. However, the guitars were developed very much.
They checked the Gibson/Fender Vintage guitars, and analyze them. The bodycavities, PU, Tremolo units and others.., They completely made clone guitars. These are incredible nice quality guitars as price listed.
The following are short explanation of Fernandes Strat Replica history
1973-74 Traditional Type 'Fernandes' Logo --- Kawai --- conducted by Mr. Omote and Mr. Shiino
1975-77 Spaghetti Type 'Fernandes' Logo --- Kawai/Tokai --- conducted by Mr. Omote
1978-79 Stone Type 'Fernandes' Logo --- Tokai
1980-81 Stone Type 'Fernandes' Logo --- Changed to 22F --- Tokai
1981-90 Revival Series Logo --- Probably Tokai
2003 Revival Second Generation --- No idea about the MFG
FERNANDES is also well known in the United States for its Sustainer system
which uses electromagnetism to vibrate a string for an indefinite period?
as long as the user continues to fret the note. This was a huge leap forward
in electric guitar technology and the custom shop at FERNANDES and dealers
worldwide installed Sustainers on many manufacturers’ guitars.
I personally do not like the Fernandes guitars after 1990. They made the guitar in Korea?
China? I think ZO-3 was made in Korea, no doubt.
The qulity of this brand was great in 1975-early time 80's.
These are golden time guitars. Well, revival series were really good even compare with
real Fender line.
And if you are lucky, please check the Burny line which Mr. Omote involved.
These were very good construction and tone. Maybe. Tokai LS series was the influenced by these lines.
Fernandes didn't have their own factory. Well, Greco didn't too, without factory,
the companies became the marketing, whole sales and money oriented.
They have the good sales network and brand name but they left the manufacturing spirits.

Gibson Serial Numbers
Kubota l2002 manual download.

some data are taken from the 11th Edition of 'Blue Book of Electric Guitars', By Zachary R. Fjestad
When Gibson start the production of solidbody guitars in 1952, a new serial number system was developed.
5 or 6 DIGITS number ink stamped on the headstock back:
Y NNN(N)
Y= last digit of the year (2=1952, 3=1953, 4=1954, 5=1955, 6=1956, 7=1957, 8=1958, 9=1959, 0=1960)
NNN(N)= production numbers in a consecutive order
4 2205 = 1954
0 9865 = 1960
NOTES: not used on the earliest instruments produced (those done in 1952), a few of these instruments have three digits stamped on the headstock top.
In 1961, Gibson started a new serial number system. It consisted of numbers that were impressed into the wood. This is generally considered to be the most confusing out of all Gibson’s serial number systems used. There are several instances where batches of numbers are switched in order and duplicated, not just once, but up to four times, and seem to be randomly assigned throughout the decade.
Note: If 'MADE IN USA' is stamped in the back of the headstock near the serial number, the guitar is not from the 1960s, but the 1970s.

From 1970 to 1975 the method of serializing instruments at Gibson became even more random. All numbers were impressed into the wood and a six-digit number was assigned, though no particular order was given and some instruments had a letter prefix. In 1970, the words MADE IN USA were impressed into the back of instrument headstocks (though a few instruments from the 1950s also had this).

NOTES: When the Nashville Gibson plant was opened in 1974, it was decided that the bulk of the production of products would be run in the South; the Kalamazoo plant would produce the higher end (fancier) models in the North. Of course, many of the older guitar builders and craftsmen were still in Kalamazoo, and if they weren’t ready to change how they built guitars, then they may not have been ready to change how they numbered them! Certain guitar models built in the late 1970s can be used to demonstrate the old-style, six-digit serial numbers. It is estimated that Gibson’s Kalamazoo plant continued to use the six-digit serial numbers through 1978 and 1979. So double check the serial numbers on those 1970s L-5s, Super 400s, and Super 5 BJBs!
YY= year (99=1975, 00=1976 and 06=1977)
NNNNNN= production number from 100000 to 200000 range.
MADE IN USA was also included on the transfer and some models had LIMITED EDITION also applied.
99XXXXXX 1975
06XXXXXX 1977
NOTES: A few bolt-on neck instruments had a date ink stamped on the heel area.
Between 1997 and late June or early July 2005, Gibson used the same serialization system on all standard-built guitars. This updated system utilizes an impressed, 8 digit numbering scheme that covers both serializing and dating functions.
YY = last two digits of the production year
PPP = plant designation and/or instrument rank:
001-499 --> Kalamazoo production from 1977 to 1984 when the factory closed.
500-999 --> Nashville production from 1977 to 1989.
All currently manufactured Gibsons (non-custom shop) are stamped with a hand arbor, and start at 300 or 500, and continue until production is finished that day. This hand stamp used to be reset daily at #300 or #500
for all the LP style headstocks. The other shapes (Flying V, T-Bird, Explorer, etc.) were started at 700. When acoustic production began at the plant in Bozeman, Montana (in 1989), the series’ numbers were reorganized. Bozeman instruments began using 001-299 designations and, in 1990, Nashville instruments began using 300-999 designations. It should also be noted that the Nashville plant has not reached the 900s since 1977, so these numbers have been
Examples:
70108276 means the instrument was produced on Jan. 10, 1978, in Kalamazoo and was the 276th instrument stamped that day.
82765501 means the instrument was produced on Oct. 3, 1985, in Nashville and was the 1st instrument stamped that day.
03202652 means the instrument was produced on November 16, 2002 and was the 152nd instrument stamped that day (assuming they started at 500).
NOTES: The Custom/Historic/Art divisions do not use this system. Certain models in the Standard series also do not follow this, either.
YDDDYBPPP
B = batch number was implemeted to better keep track of production and allow for more than five hundred instruments to be produced in a day. At the beginning of each day, the sixth digit is reset to 0. Once the last three numbers reach
699, the batch number moves on to 1, and the last three digits are reset to 500.
028360612 stamped on the 283rd day (October 10th) in 2006 and was the 112th guitar stamped that day.
001071520 stamped on the 10th day (January 10th) of 2007 and was the 220th guitar stamped on that day (it was part of the second batch and the 20th guitar of the second batch - first batch was of 200 guitars).
